Gerald S. Smith

Jerry’s practice focuses on constitutional law, education law, and employment litigation. Prior to joining Silverman & Associates, he successfully represented clients at the trial and appellate levels in State and Federal Court as well as before the EEOC and the New York State Division of Human Rights. Jerry also served as Senior Counsel in the Special Federal Litigation Division of the New York City Law Department, where he defended the City of New York and agencies such as the New York City Police Department and Department of Correction against civil rights lawsuits.

Jerry has served as a volunteer mediator in New York State Small Claims Court and, for the past nine years, has volunteered as a mentor and debate coach for the Legal Outreach Program. He has also volunteered his time for programs such as New York Cares and New York City Meals on Wheels
